The director for nationality and passports says applicants from Aweil East County in South Sudan’s Northern Bahr El Ghazal state are being called to turn up and get their nationality certificates.
The Nationality Certificate Department in Aweil County says that 250 applicants who had once applied for the nationality certificates early this year need to come forward and get their documents.
Lt. Colonel Dut Ngor, the director of Nationality in Aweil East County, said they have obtained 250 certificates for those who applied early this year, and those who badly needed them need to come forward.
“For those who have applied early this year, your nationality IDs have come, and it is time for you to come forward in Aweil East County and obtain the documents,” he said.
He said the processing of nationality has been completed in Juba, and those who applied need to turn up, as the receipt and possession of these documents are essential once one is looking for a job.
“It is good for one to have such a document so that you can get a job using it, so those who applied after nearly 5 months, please show up and you can get the nationality with us,” he said.
He said all applicants need to come forward, as there is no money required, saying a delay in obtaining it can lead to missing out on other opportunities.
Obtaining a nationality certificate has been found difficult by some local citizens across the state, as some experience long delays without being given it.
Some citizens are also being required to bail out their relatives, and if one doesn’t have one, he or she is turned away; this, among others, is one of the factors.
The director says it is imperative to have the document.
Many citizens have long been finding it hard to get other essential documents like passports, as the production of such documents takes much longer, both monetarily and time-wise.
