Central Equatoria State Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony has appealed to political actors, candidates, their supporters, and the general public to reject violence, intimidation, hate speech, and misinformation as the country prepares for the general elections scheduled for December 22, 2026.
Adil appealed on Wednesday during the launch of the Civic and Voter Education Campaign in Central Equatoria State, organised by the Central Equatoria State High-Level Elections Committee.
He warned that political competition should not be allowed to divide communities or undermine peace and stability in the state.
The governor called on all those involved in the electoral process to conduct themselves responsibly and ensure that their political differences are expressed peacefully.
Adil urged citizens to understand their rights, responsibilities, and roles in the electoral process and encouraged eligible voters to seek accurate electoral information from the National Elections Commission.
He said voters should participate freely, peacefully, and responsibly in the upcoming polls.
The governor also appealed to citizens to remain vigilant against misinformation, urging them to verify electoral information through credible sources before sharing it with others.
He further called for the full participation of women, young people, persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups in the electoral process, stressing that inclusive participation was important for a credible election.
Adil urged political, religious, traditional, and community leaders to use their influence to promote peace, tolerance, and responsible citizenship throughout the election period.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the Central Equatoria State Government to supporting a peaceful, inclusive, and credible electoral environment.
The governor said cooperation among government institutions, electoral authorities, civil society organisations and other stakeholders would be essential in ensuring a successful electoral process.
As preparations for the December polls continue, Adil appealed to the people of Central Equatoria State to put peace, unity, and stability above political differences and reject any actions that could fuel tensions or violence.
