Western Equatoria State Governor Daniel Badagbu Rimbasa has met Chief of Defence Forces General Santino Deng Wol in Juba to discuss the ongoing integration of forces and security concerns in Western Equatoria State.
Governor Badagbu said the meeting focused on appreciating the CDF for expediting the integration process in Western Equatoria and discussing the need to advance the process in Greater Mundri.
“I had a very fruitful meeting with the CDF this morning to appreciate him for expediting the integration process in Western Equatoria State and to discuss the integration in Greater Mundri as well,” the governor said.
The governor also raised concerns over insecurity in Mundri East and Mundri West counties, including road ambushes, the burning of vehicles, and looting along the Juba-Mundri road.
The security situation in Tambura and Nagero counties was also discussed during the meeting.
Last month, Governor Badagbu and CDF General Santino Deng Wol visited Lii-Rangu in Western Equatoria State to oversee the integration process involving former SPLM-IO forces who had defected and joined the SSPDF under the government of President Salva Kiir Mayardit.
The visit focused on the assessment, registration, and integration of the former SPLM-IO forces, intending to promote unity among the forces and strengthen peace in Western Equatoria State.
Governor Badagbu described Friday’s meeting with the CDF as intensive and fruitful, saying the discussions addressed the continued integration process and key security concerns affecting the state.
