Security concerns are growing around church property in Magwi following the theft of sound equipment from the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
The incident reportedly occurred on the night of Wednesday, September 16, 2026, when unidentified thieves broke into the church and took equipment used during worship services, including all of its microphones.
Elder Lam Joseph John told Voice of Freedom that the stolen equipment was regularly used during Sabbath services and other church activities.
He said the latest incident was not the first time church property had been stolen. According to Elder Lam, a battery was also taken from the church in May.
The repeated thefts have prompted calls for greater community involvement in protecting religious institutions and their property.
Elder Lam appealed to community members to respect and safeguard church property and urged anyone with information about the stolen equipment or the break-in to report it to the relevant authorities.
He also called for collective efforts among church members and the wider community to strengthen security and prevent further thefts.
