The Bank of South Sudan on Monday celebrated 11 staff members who have retired from service, including two Directors General, following years of dedicated service to the institution.
According to the bank’s retirement policy, staff members retire upon reaching the age of 65.
Addressing the retirees and bank staff, Governor Dr. Addis Ababa Othow expressed gratitude for their years of dedicated service, emphasising that their contributions extend beyond the positions they held.
“Your contribution cannot be measured by the position you occupy or the responsibility you carry. It is also reflected in the institutional memories and the knowledge that you have acquired, the colleagues that you have mentored, the responsibilities that you have fulfilled, and the contribution that you have made to the development of this institution,” Dr. Addis Ababa said.
He urged staff to focus on leaving a positive legacy within the institution.
“Today, you may be a technical director, a director, or a staff member of the Bank of South Sudan, but tomorrow, someone else will take your position. Let us work in a way that ensures we are remembered for doing what is right,” he said.
The governor also emphasised the importance of preserving institutional knowledge and preparing the next generation of professionals.
“As we continue strengthening and transforming the Bank of South Sudan, we must preserve the institutional knowledge and values that have been built over the years while preparing the next generation of professionals to take this institution forward. We should all work to ensure that we leave something positive for the generation that will come after us,” Dr. Addis Ababa said.
He also appreciated the organising committee for putting together the retirement celebration and commended the retirees for their commitment and contributions to the bank, wishing them well as they begin the next chapter of their lives.
Representing the retirees, Director General Barac Deng Aguer reflected on their years of service and the knowledge and experience gained during their careers.
“We acquired knowledge and talents, and these moments will remain in our memories for years to come,” Barac said.
He appreciated the teamwork and professionalism fostered by the bank, as well as the discipline demonstrated by staff throughout their years of service.
The celebration brought together bank management, staff, and the retirees to recognise their contributions and mark the completion of their years of service to the Bank of South Sudan.
