Detained Warrap state Revenue Authority staff freed

South Sudan peoples Defence Forces (SSPDF) Division five command has released 19 staff of Warrap state revenue Authority.

The military command, in a press statement, announced the state Revenue Authority staff, who were arrested by Division 11 command, on 13″h of June 2025, at various checkpoints, in the state.

“On behalf of the government of Warrap State and my own behalf, I am pleased to announce to the public that the 19 staff of Warrap State Revenue Authority – among the members of security organs who were arrested following a misunderstanding between the Government of Warrap State and division11 commands, have been released” the statement noted.

According to the statement, the released staff were received by the government of Warrap State on Monday.

The statement noted that the staff had been directed by the government of Warrap State to carry out security checks at the bridges notably in Makuei-Karsit Tonj Town and Tharkueng Bridges.

The statement clarified that the Division 11 command had not been informed of the directives and this resulted in a misunderstanding, which led to the arrest.

The release was possible through the intervention of the National Minister of Defense, Chief of Defense Forces and the governor of Warrap State.

The government of Warrap State acknowledged the inconveniences caused by this misunderstanding.

“As the government of Warrap state, we would like to clarify to the public that what has happened was unfortunate and we would like to sincerely assure all the concerned authorities that such an occurrence would be avoided in the future’ statement read.
