The South Sudan National Police Services (SSNPS) have arrested at least 32 suspected gangs’ members in Gumbo-Sherikat residential area.
Speaking to the media yesterday, the police spokesperson, Major General James Monday Enoka revealed continuous crackdown on criminals to ensure stability in Gumbo as well as other areas.
He added that a joint operation which launched a crackdown on criminals managed to arrest 32 suspected criminal gangs, including 9 underages.
The spokesperson expressed that the suspects were apprehended in connection with a recent surge in attack and robbery incidents.
“From 29 to 30 September 2025, a joint operation launched a crackdown on criminals. They managed to arrest 32 criminal gangs, including 9 underages,” Enoka revealed.
He expressed that the gangs were found in possession of several weapons, including pangas, knives, cutters, and wooden sticks.
In order to curb crimes, Enoka reaffirmed police commitment to continue with the crackdown.
“This crackdown on criminals will continue to ensure that Juba City is stable and peaceful, and also the rest of the country is peaceful too” he said.
He added that the gangs used various weapons, which include pangas, knives, cutters, and wooden sticks, to commit different crimes.
According to Monday the gangs commits different criminal cases, including murder, robbery, theft, violence, and drug abuse.
“Criminal cases have been opened against these suspects in Gumbo police division, and all the suspects shall be thoroughly investigated, and those found guilty shall be presented before the court of law to face justice” he highlighted.
He underscored Last week a big number was arrested, which included 182, including 4 females and 9 underages.
“The report I get here today is that 13 of those who were arrested last week have been convicted, and they have been sent to prison for reformation. The same will apply to these suspects who are here” he stated.
“They will be thoroughly investigated, those found guilty shall be presented before the court of law, and those who are declared innocent shall be discharged” Enoka added.
He applauded the forces in sector 6, which is headed by Brigadier Daniel Mobio, supervised by Major General Mangaro, who is the director of ICT and also supervisor of the sectors.
He further thanks the community in Gumbo for cooperating with these forces, which had enabled them to achieve the success in arrest of the wrongdoers who were causing insecurity in parts of the city.
Mapaw and other localities on outskirts of Gumbo-Sherikat in Juba city had been identified as primary strongholds for criminal gangs.
This designation is amplified by a disturbing surge in reports of sexual violence against women within their confines.
