In a significant boost for local sports, Tristar, a leading company committed to community development, has signed an agreement to extend its support to the South Sudan Football Federation (SSFF) for another year.
The renewal, finalized on November 1, 2024, includes a $250,000 investment specifically allocated to pay the national team’s head coach, support staff, and to provide essential training kits for the national football team.
SSFF President, Mr. Francis Amin, expressed heartfelt gratitude for Tristar’s ongoing contributions, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between the private sector and sports organizations.
“We appreciate Tristar’s support, which demonstrates their commitment to the development of football in South Sudan. Together, we will strengthen our national team and foster a love for the game in our youth,” Amin stated.
Tristar CEO, Mr. Eugene Mayne, highlighted the vital role of sports in uniting communities and inspiring youth. “Sports is not just a game; it’s a unifier that keeps our young people engaged and away from negative influences like crime and drugs,” he said. Mayne also encouraged other businesses to join Tristar in investing in local sports, underscoring the collective responsibility of the private sector in nurturing talent and community spirit.
In addition to football, Tristar’s support extends to various community initiatives.
Since 2009, the company has made significant investments in education by funding computer labs and providing educational resources to schools such as Gabat Primary School and Yapa Secondary School, alongside critical infrastructure projects that have included classrooms and dormitories.
The company has also made strides in healthcare, equipping local hospitals with solar lights and providing essential amenities like boreholes and hand pumps.
In closing, Mr. Mayne conveyed best wishes to the SSFF leadership and coaching staff, expressing hopes for the success of the national team, known as the Bright Stars, in their upcoming endeavours.
“Our commitment to community development will continue, as we believe in empowering our youth through sports and education,” Mayne affirmed.
