CTSAMVM chairperson Teshome Anagawe Ayana urged parties to recommit to dialogue. The chairperson made the call during the meeting on Tuesday.
The Transitional Security Arrangement Monitoring & Verification Mechanism (CTSAMVM) has a role to monitor, verify, and report the violation of the ceasefire.
Anagawe urged all the parties to recommit to dialogue, respect the permanent ceasefire, and prioritize civilians’ safety and dignity.
“We align with regional and international partners in urging all parties to recommit to dialogue, respect the permanent ceasefire, and prioritize civilian safety and dignity,” he urged.
He emphasized that sustainable peace demands cooperation, restraint, and renewed commitment to the principles of the R-ARCSS.
Anagawe said he has assumed responsibility during a challenging period for peace monitoring efforts, citing that the agreement continues to face challenges.
“Although I assumed this responsibility during a challenging period for peace monitoring efforts, I am committed to leading CTSAMVM with humility, impartiality, and resolve, and I kindly request your continued support as we navigate this critical phase together,” he said.
Anagawe was appointed as the Chairperson of CTSAMVM on 1st July this year, and he finally succeeded Yitayal Gelaw Bitew on 1st September.
He appreciated the role of donors and called on them to extend additional financial support.
“We therefore respectfully and urgently appeal to our esteemed donors and stakeholders to extend additional financial support for 2026 to ensure the mission remains fully operational in the face of growing responsibilities,” he appealed.
On his part, George Aggrey Owinow, the interim chairperson of the Reconstituted Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission (R-JMEC), urged the parties to double efforts in implementing the peace agreement.
