As Christians prepare for Christmas, the Bank of South Sudan Christian Fellowship held a carol celebration, with senior leadership using the occasion to promote unity, faith, and shared institutional values.
According to a BoSS statement, the event, was held under the biblical theme drawn from Matthew 2:2 – “Where is the one who has been born King of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.”
It brought together BoSS board members, senior management, and staff in a show of collective worship and reflection.
Speaking during the celebration, BoSS Acting Governor Samuel Yanga Mikaya expressed gratitude to God for the gift of life and what he described as divine protection throughout the year. “We thank God for His guidance and protection over our lives and the institution,” Yanga said.
He added that, “Despite the responsibilities we carry and the economic challenges facing the country, God has remained faithful to us.”
He encouraged members of the Christian Fellowship to remain steadfast in their faith and to continue nurturing spiritual growth and unity within the Bank.
“Our faith should keep us united and grounded as colleagues, and it should reflect in how we work together and serve our nation,” he emphasized.
Yanga further noted that faith-based initiatives within the Bank play a vital role in strengthening interpersonal relations among staff and promoting cooperation, particularly during demanding institutional periods.
He expressed hope that sustained commitment to faith would inspire positive change within the Bank and beyond.
Delivering the sermon, Evangelist Philip Yoka urged fellowship members to embrace generosity, humility, and unity, calling on staff to work together under God’s guidance.
“Christmas is not only about celebration; it is a call to live lives of compassion, service, and mutual support,” Yoka said.
He emphasized that the message of Christmas should be reflected in both professional and personal conduct, adding, “When we walk in humility and unity, our work becomes a testimony of our faith.”
The Christmas Carol celebration also served as a moment of thanksgiving, with participants acknowledging what organizers described as God’s protection over staff and the institution throughout the year.
Hymns, scripture readings, and prayers formed part of the program, reinforcing the central theme of worship and collective reflection.
The BoSS Christian Fellowship is one of several staff-led initiatives within the central bank aimed at promoting moral values, staff welfare, and cohesion.
Such gatherings, officials said, contribute to building a supportive work environment and strengthening bonds among employees across departments.
The event concluded with prayers for peace, institutional stability, and continued guidance in the year ahead, as the Bank of South Sudan prepares to enter the Christmas season alongside Christians across the country and beyond.
