President Salva Kiir Mayardit have urged the nation to seek divine guidance as the country grapples with the challenges that lie ahead.
In a statement issued by the presidential press unit yesterday, President Kiir while addressing the national prayer Breakfast held at the Presidency in Juba on Saturday.
“Kiir emphasised that the Prayer was not a political event, but rather a religious reflection on the renewal of our collective aspirations for a better future” the statement read.
The president had declared that the National Prayer Breakfast will be held annually on December 20th.
Kiir recalled that South Sudan’s journey to independence was achieved through unwavering sacrifice and fervent prayer.
“The Head of State called upon all South Sudanese citizens and religious leaders from diverse backgrounds to be steadfast advocates for peace” the statement partly read.
He further urged the nation to revisit these principles and policies as we strive to overcome the challenges that confront us.
The head of state specifically called upon those in positions of authority to serve with honesty, humility and accountability.
The President also appealed to all religious leaders and political leaders to provide guidance and wisdom as the country endeavours to foster peace and unity.
National prayer Breakfast to grows personal relationship with God and bonds of friendship among people and also encourages one another as friends.
These friendships often transcend differences and opposing views on national development issues.
