At least one person is reportedly killed and two injured on Tuesday by suspected criminals who attacked the fishermen at Malual-Adoor Boma, on their way going to check for their nets at a water point.

Lt. Colonel Thiik Agoth who is the police inspector in Gogrial East County told this publication that the fishermen were attacked on 16 December early in the morning.

“December 16 2025, the attackers killed one person identified as Bol Madut and left two critically injured at Malual-Adoor boma and those injured include; Bak Mawu-weei Garang, and Majur Mawut” he stated.

“We have managed to transfer them to Wau hospital for treatment and the attackers were being pursued as they moved towards Mayom” He noted.

Agoth urged people to avoid moving into the swampy areas which are frequented by the attackers especially in the morning and evening as they go to look for cows and others to revenge their lost relatives.

In a related development, authorities in Twic county said 23 cows were allegedly driven away from Mayen-Amuol Boma in Twic county by suspected criminals from Mayom county.

The officials in the area said that the attackers were seen heading towards the swampy area, Mayom county and attempts were being made to ensure that the cattle were retrieved.

Issues of cattle looting and revenge killing has been persistently happening over the years and the attacks are being blamed on lack of reconciliatory efforts being undertaken between the rival communities such as within Warrap state itself and forces from neighbouring states such as Unity and Lakes state.

Despite the state of emergency and disarmament which is ongoing, little is being seen to yield fruits as most reports of killing are still emerging in the states which are being inhabited by cattle-keeping communities.
