Vice President who is also the chairperson for Gender and Youth Cluster, Rebecca Nyandeng Garang has reaffirmed government’s responsibility to safeguard children’s rights and to promote access to education.
This remark followed an annual anniversary celebration organized by Senior Presidential Envoy, Adut Slava Kiir hosting orphans from various care centres ahead of Christmas in Juba on Friday 19, 2025.
“I reaffirmed the government’s responsibility to safeguard children’s rights, promote access to education, and strengthen social protection systems for orphans and vulnerable children” she reaffirmed.
Nyandeng encouraged the orphans’ children to keep on education as the future of South Sudan belong to them.
The event brought together children, caregivers, and well-wishers in a festive atmosphere aimed at spreading hope and compassion.
The celebration was attended by senior government officials, ambassadors, and members of the United Nations family.
Nyandeng highlighted the government’s commitment to the welfare and protection of vulnerable children.
Meanwhile, Senior Presidential Envoy, Adut Kiir encouraged the children to believe in their potential, reminding them that among them are future doctors, leaders, and professionals who will contribute to nation-building.
She emphasized the importance of sustained support, education, and care in nurturing their dreams.
On his part, Mahlodi Sam Muofhe, the Ambassador of South Africa to South Sudan called for stronger institutional frameworks to address the needs of vulnerable children.
Sam underscored the importance of a dedicated ministry or authority for social development affairs to ensure that street-connected children are protected and removed from the streets.
Additionally, Consul Ali, the Chief Executive Officer of Crown Hotel, also shared words of comfort with the children and expressed his joy in hosting the orphans.
He reaffirmed Crown Hotel’s commitment to supporting humanitarian and community-focused initiatives.
The annual pre-Christmas celebration continues to serve as a platform for advocacy, partnership, and renewed commitment to improving the lives of orphans and vulnerable children across South Sudan.
