By Kei Emmanuel Duku

The quest to elevate South Sudan’s footballing pedigree took a significant leap on Monday, January 12, 2026, as the top leadership of the South Sudan Football Federation (SSFF) convened a high-stakes review of the nation’s technical development.

In a move signalling a new era of professional accountability, SSFF President Francis Amin, alongside the Secretary General, Adv. Bak Athian Bak, hosted a strategic briefing with the top carders of the SSFF Coaches Committee. The meeting, attended by Committee Chairperson Mr. James Garang and his deputy, Mr. Albino Simon Ajak, centered on the intensive CAF B Coaching Course currently underway in Juba.

The committee presented a comprehensive progress report, providing a transparent look at the rigorous training modules and the commitment of the instructors to meet international benchmarks.

“The tactical revolution of South Sudanese football starts in the classroom,” President Francis Amin stated during the session. “I must praise the Coaches Committee for its crucial role in enhancing coaching qualifications and capabilities. Your dedication is having a significant impact on the development of coaching standards across our nation.”

The report showcased the committee’s unwavering focus on fulfilling its training responsibilities effectively. For the federation, this initiative is more than just a course; it is a foundational pillar for national success.

“The progress of the CAF B Course is a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone involved,” noted Chairperson James Garang. “It is encouraging to see such support for our coaches. Together, we are paving the way for a brighter future in the sport, and this journey toward excellence continues to inspire many.”

The atmosphere of the meeting reflected the SSFF’s deep-seated commitment to improving the quality of coaching—a factor the leadership describes as essential for the overall advancement of football in South Sudan.

The session concluded with a shared sense of optimism, with the President commending the committee’s vision and the tangible results being achieved on the ground.

The professionalization of coaching is widely regarded as the most critical investment a football federation can make. The CAF B License represents a high level of continental accreditation, equipping coaches with the scientific knowledge, tactical depth, and leadership skills required to compete at the professional level.

By prioritizing these courses, the SSFF is ensuring that local players are developed under modern methodologies from a young age.

This transition from enthusiast-led coaching to expert-led instruction is the primary driver for improving the national team’s performance and increasing the market value of South Sudanese players on the global stage.
