Upper Nile Governor Condemns Attack on Civilians in Baliet County

The Governor of Upper Nile State, Jacob Dollar Ruot, has condemned an attack against innocent civilians in Baliet County, allegedly carried out by SPLA-IO forces.
In a statement issued on Monday by the Governor’s Press Unit, Governor Dollar described the attack as an unacceptable act of violence against civilians.
Speaking during a visit to Baliet County, he strongly denounced the incident and expressed concern over the loss of lives, injuries, and displacement caused by the attack.
“The Governor strongly condemned the attack, describing it as an unacceptable act of violence against innocent civilians,” the statement said.
Governor Dollar called on the population to remain calm and urged communities to reject revenge, emphasizing the need for peace, unity, and peaceful coexistence.
The Governor visited Baliet County to condole with affected communities following the attack, which resulted in deaths, injuries, and the displacement of residents.
According to the statement, the visit aimed to express condolences and solidarity with families who lost loved ones during the incident.
Governor Dollar conveyed his deep sympathy to the bereaved families and reassured the people of Baliet County of the state government’s commitment to peace, the protection of civilians, and the pursuit of justice.
He was accompanied by the Deputy Governor, Deng Akuei Kak, along with state ministers and senior government officials. The delegation met with local authorities, community leaders, and affected families to assess the situation on the ground and discuss immediate humanitarian and security needs.
Governor Dollar reaffirmed the state government’s determination to work with security organs and partners to restore stability in Baliet County and ensure the safety of its citizens.
