RRC Reinstates Twic East Community Association Registration After Revocation

By Chol D. Johnson

The Relief and Rehabilitation Commission (RRC) has reinstated the certificate of registration of the Twic East Community Association in Juba (TECA-J), months after the organization’s license was revoked.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday in Juba, TECA-J Chairperson Biar Mading Biar announced that the association is now legally cleared to resume operations.

“The TECA-J certificate of registration from the RRC has been reinstated and is operational from today,” Mading said.

He welcomed the decision by the RRC leadership, describing TECA-J as a community-based organization established to serve the social and developmental interests of the Twic East community.

Mading noted that during the period of revocation, members of the Twic East community refrained from public commentary, including on social media, while the matter was being addressed.

He reaffirmed the association’s commitment to working with the Government of South Sudan in advancing development efforts and urged members of the Twic East community in the diaspora to support development initiatives in their home areas.

The TECA-J certificate was revoked early last year by the Chief Registrar of NGOs at the RRC, Wol Dhieu Akujang.

The commission had alleged that the association engaged in political activities during its general assembly in Juba, contrary to regulations governing community-based organizations.

With the reinstatement, TECA-J is expected to resume its activities aimed at supporting the Twic East community.
