The Central Equatoria State government has prioritised the rehabilitation of roads in Lainya County to improve access to essential services and transportation for local communities.
Speaking on Friday during the opening of the third edition of the Pojulu Cultural Festival in Juba, Emmanuel Adil Anthony emphasised the importance of improving road infrastructure in Lainya County to support both residents and travellers.
“We have to rehabilitate our roads in Lainya County so that the Pojulu community and the people of South Sudan living in Lainya can have safe and reliable transportation,” Adil said.
The governor also called for the renovation and reopening of schools in Lainya County as boarding schools to provide children with a better learning environment.
Adil praised the Pojulu community for organising the cultural festival in Juba, saying the event helps preserve culture and educate the younger generation about their heritage.
He noted that the Pojulu Cultural Festival is more than a cultural celebration, describing it as a symbol of peace and unity among the people of South Sudan, as many communities gather to attend the event.
“This is the meaning of peace. People should forgive one another and move forward with development,” he said.
The governor further stressed that conflicts within communities in Central Equatoria State should come to an end so citizens can focus on development and progress.
Adil also assured residents of the government’s commitment to upgrading the Lainya Primary Care Center into a fully functioning hospital.
In addition, he revealed plans to construct the Lainya airstrip to improve transportation and allow aircraft to land in the county.
He urged the youth and citizens of South Sudan to embrace peace and create an environment that supports development.
The remarks were made during the third edition of the Pojulu Cultural Festival, organised by the Pojulu community in Juba.
The Pojulu people are mainly found in Lainya County and showcase traditional dances and other cultural activities during the celebration.
