Health officials inspect cholera treatment centres across Bentiu, Rubkona

By Sabri Dibaco

The Unity State Ministry of Health, in partnership with Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), has conducted an official assessment visit to cholera treatment centres in Bentiu and Rubkona County to evaluate preparedness and response efforts against the ongoing cholera threat.

The inspection was led by Unity State Minister of Health, Jal Puok, who toured MSF-supported cholera treatment facilities at Bentiu State Hospital, Rubkona Yoangyang, and the Bentiu IDP Camp Library Facility in Sector 2.

Speaking to the Press, the minister assessed the operational readiness of the centres, availability of medical supplies, and the delivery of essential healthcare services to suspected cholera patients receiving treatment at the facilities.

The delegation included MSF Coordinator Allan Fernandez De la Rosa, State Ministry of Health Director General Manyar Tungpiny, and Rubkona County Health Department Director Latjor Gatchang.

The officials said the visit reflects the continued commitment of Unity State authorities and health partners toward strengthening emergency health response systems and ensuring rapid treatment for cholera cases across the state.

The initiative is also aligned with the leadership and support of Joseph Nguen Manytuil to improve healthcare service delivery and enhance cholera preparedness throughout Unity State.

Health authorities urged members of the public experiencing symptoms or suspected cases of cholera to immediately report to the designated cholera treatment centres for urgent medical attention and treatment services.

Last week, the Ministry of Health in Unity State and the MSF engaged in the rehabilitation of the major roads leading to the hospital
