South Sudan’s U-17 Women’s National Team produced a stunning attacking display on Tuesday, crushing Djibouti 6-0 in the CECAFA U-17 Women’s Championship to move closer to a place in the tournament’s knockout stage.

The young Bright Starlets dominated the match from start to finish, displaying skill, pace, and clinical finishing against a struggling Djibouti side.

Ajak Gou and Amou Sarah were the stars of the encounter, each scoring two goals to lead South Sudan’s emphatic victory.

Hellen Luka and Marlin Pita also found the back of the net, completing an impressive six-goal performance that underlined the team’s growing confidence in the regional competition.

South Sudan controlled possession throughout the match, creating numerous scoring opportunities while remaining solid defensively to deny Djibouti any meaningful chances.

The convincing victory follows the team’s opening 1-0 win over Zanzibar, giving South Sudan six points from two matches and boosting hopes of progressing to the next stage of the championship.

Head coach and supporters will be encouraged by the team’s attacking efficiency and disciplined defensive display as they prepare for their remaining group fixtures.

The result also reflects the continued growth of women’s football in South Sudan, with the country’s young talents demonstrating their ability to compete strongly at the regional level.

The CECAFA U-17 Women’s Championship serves as an important platform for nurturing emerging footballers across East and Central Africa, and South Sudan’s performances so far suggest they are among the tournament’s strongest contenders.

With momentum firmly on their side, the Bright Starlets will now turn their attention to their next challenge, aiming to maintain their winning run and keep alive their dream of lifting the regional championship trophy.
