FIRE INCIDENT: NSS says no casualties reported in Blue House

By Yiep Joseph

The National Security Service (NSS) has confirmed that no casualties were recorded following a fire that damaged part of its Blue House headquarters in Juba.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, NSS spokesperson David John Kumuri said the fire broke out at around midnight on Tuesday, damaging the administrative block of the facility.

“All personnel have been safely accounted for, and no casualties have been reported,” Kumuri said.

He said preliminary investigations indicate that the fire was caused by an electrical fault, although a comprehensive investigation is still underway to establish the exact cause and assess the extent of the damage.

Kumuri assured the public that the incident had not disrupted the operations of the National Security Service.

“We remain steadfast in our commitment to public safety and our constitutional mandate,” he said.

He added that the NSS continues to operate normally while investigations into the fire continue.

The Blue House serves as the headquarters of the National Security Service and houses key administrative offices.

Although the fire damaged part of the administrative block, authorities said there was no loss of life.

The incident has prompted an internal investigation, with officials expected to release further details once the assessment is completed.
