The Commissioner of Yei River County, Samuel Henry Malimbo, has called on the people of Yei River County and South Sudan to uphold peace, unity, reconciliation, and hard work as the country commemorates the 15th Independence Anniversary.
In his Independence Day message issued on Tuesday, Malimbo congratulated the citizens of South Sudan on reaching another national milestone and paid tribute to the heroes and heroines whose sacrifices secured the country’s freedom and self-determination.
The Commissioner said the anniversary provides an opportunity for citizens to renew their commitment to peaceful coexistence, respect for the rule of law, and national unity, noting that sustainable development can only be achieved through cooperation and mutual respect among communities.
He urged youths, women, traditional leaders, religious institutions, civil servants, the business community, and development partners to continue promoting peace, embrace agriculture and entrepreneurship, strengthen public institutions, and contribute to the development of Yei River County and South Sudan.
Malimbo reaffirmed the county government’s commitment to improving security, expanding access to essential public services, supporting education and healthcare, strengthening local governance, and creating an environment that enables every citizen to realise their full potential.
He further emphasised that nation-building is a shared responsibility, calling on all South Sudanese to work together with patriotism, unity, and determination to build a peaceful, prosperous, and united nation.
The Commissioner concluded his message by wishing all citizens a peaceful celebration and invoking God’s blessings upon Yei River County, Central Equatoria State, and the Republic of South Sudan.
