The Governor of Central Equatoria State, Emmanuel Adil Anthony, has inspected the ongoing construction of Kanjaro Bridge in Hai Lomuko as part of his development tour of Yei River County.
During the inspection, Adil commended the local community and the Commissioner of Yei River County, Samuel Batali, for taking the initiative to support the bridge project, including mobilizing SSP 17 million toward its construction.
The Governor also appreciated Point Investment for partnering with the community on the project and pledged the state government’s support to ensure the bridge is completed.
Governor Adil urged residents to work closely with government authorities to address insecurity in the area, particularly gang-related activities that continue to affect communities and development efforts.
Samuel Batali described Kanjaro Bridge as a critical feeder-road connecting Yei River County with neighboring counties and parts of Western Equatoria State.
He emphasized the importance of community ownership in development projects and commended local residents, particularly women, for volunteering their time and supporting engineers and workers at the construction site.
Community representative Johnson Poru and community elder Bishop Hilary expressed appreciation for the Governor’s visit and appealed for continued government support to ensure the successful completion of the bridge.
Engineer Lemi Stephen, Chief Executive Officer of Point Investment, said the company was proud to partner with the community and government in implementing the project. He estimated the total cost of the bridge at approximately US$68,000 and pledged that the company would complete the work according to schedule.
The Kanjaro Bridge project is expected to improve road connectivity, facilitate the movement of people and goods, and strengthen access between Yei River County and neighboring areas once completed.
