Eastern Equatoria State Governor Gen. Louis Lobong Lojore has arrived in Soroti City, Uganda, ahead of the closing ceremony of the Ateker Cup of Nations on 22 August 2026.
The tournament, which runs from 16 to 22 August, brings together communities from South Sudan, Uganda, Kenya, and Ethiopia, using football and cultural exchange to promote unity, peace, and cooperation among the Ateker people.
Governor Lobong’s participation underscores the importance of regional solidarity, shared cultural heritage, and sport as a tool for peacebuilding, cross-border cooperation, and stronger relations among communities.
The tournament is being held under the theme “Bridging Borders, Building Champions.”
The governor is expected to join regional leaders, cultural representatives, athletes, and supporters at the grand closing ceremony in Soroti City on 22 August.
