The Omiaha Kingdom of Lopit is mourning the death of Prince Michael Ekol, who passed away on September 18 in Haforiere Village, Hiyala Payam.
Family sources said Prince Ekol died in the morning. The cause of his death has not been officially disclosed.
His death has triggered an outpouring of grief across Haforiere Village and the wider Omiaha Kingdom, with elders, youth, and other community members gathering at the royal family residence in Ibonni Village, Obunge Payam, Lopa County, to pay their respects.
Prince Ekol was widely respected in the community for his involvement in youth affairs, community service, and efforts to preserve Omiaha cultural traditions.
He was also regarded by members of the community as a prominent figure in the kingdom and a potential future king.
The royal family and community leaders have appealed for calm as preparations continue to transport his body to Ibonni, where burial rites are expected to be conducted in accordance with Omiaha traditional customs.
