Yei County Executive Director hands over office

‎The former Executive Director of Yei River County, Hillary John Konga, has formally handed over the county administration office to the newly appointed Executive Director, Hillary Lokudu Muhammed, who is also serving as the acting caretaker of the county.

‎The handover ceremony took place on Wednesday, 30 September 2026, and was attended by heads of county departments, representatives of security organs, and other senior county officials. Officials from Juba City Council also attended the ceremony.

‎Mr Muhammed called for unity and cooperation among county officials as they continue working together to serve the people of Yei River County.

‎The handover marks the formal transition of administrative responsibilities from Mr. Konga to Mr. Muhammed amid changes within the county administration.

‎Morris Modi, the head chief of Yei Town Payam, commended the outgoing Executive Director for what he described as transparent leadership and cooperation with county authorities, including the former Commissioner of Yei River County, Samuel Henry Malimbo.

‎Mr Modi said the handover was significant, adding that it was the first formal executive director handover ceremony he had witnessed in the county.

‎Major General Lujang Kamba, the Inspector of Police in Yei River County, also commended both the outgoing and incoming executive directors for their cooperation during the transition.

‎The Deputy Executive Director of Yei River County said administrative officials should remain focused on their responsibilities rather than political affairs, noting that leadership changes are part of local government administration.

‎Mr Konga said he had worked peacefully with county staff and contributed to the implementation of activities across different sectors during his tenure.

‎He also thanked the business community in Yei River County for supporting the county administration through tax contributions.

‎Mr Konga called for continued teamwork and cooperation among county officials, saying collective efforts were important for effective administration and service delivery.

‎The ceremony concluded with the formal transfer of administrative responsibilities to the new Executive Director and acting caretaker of Yei River County.
