NEC delivers first batch of voter registration materials to Central Equatoria

By Louis Loku

The National Elections Commission (NEC) has delivered the first batch of voter registration materials to the Central Equatoria State High Elections Committee (SHEC), marking another step in preparations for the country’s upcoming general elections.

The handover took place on Monday, when NEC Chairperson Gabriel Bol Deng and his delegation officially presented voter registration forms, lamination materials and reflective jackets to the state elections committee.

According to information published by the National Elections Commission, the materials were received by Alfayo Phillip Lako, Chairperson of the Central Equatoria State High Elections Committee, alongside other committee members.

The handover was witnessed by representatives of civil society organisations, traditional chiefs and youth representatives, who attended the event as observers.

The delivery is expected to support the work of the state elections committee as preparations for voter registration continue.

The development comes as South Sudan intensifies efforts to prepare for the planned December 2026 general elections.
