There is always a time when the joey, a baby kangaroo, leaves the marsupium.
As its mother becomes pregnant, it kicks out the weaned joey to grow up on its own as it looks forward to developing its own marsupium. Who are you to remain in your uncle’s pocket for life?
Get out, face the world and become a founding uncle to your younger siblings. The world fears those who face it. It fears those who create their own histories. It fears those who grow under the scorching sun, not those who grow in the shade.
Crops grown in a shade cannot yield well during harvest. They overgrow, remain green and end up not producing anything harvestable. Yes, they look pretty good but useless. Youth who grow under their uncles cannot become good leaders. They grow under the shades of their uncles and so, they are taught how to protect the shades, therefore, they end up becoming sycophants. Some become alcohol addicts while a very few become successful but tend to be highly corrupt.
So, when you get the privilege to grow under your uncle, try to move out of the shade for a week or month. This is to balance yourself, in case an elephant or a strong wind blows off the tree under which you grow, you may be able to stand on your own feet. Competence first, reliance on your uncle later. Your uncle was not born to live forever. Any time any day, he may kick the bucket and leave you behind with that chronic reliance on him.
Would you dare stand on your own feet? Would you? You would not stand alone as a man. It is not good to absolutely rely on someone. If that person falls down, you fall down as well. If he dies, you die as well. As a man aspiring to become a personality in future, you should put one leg on someone for reliance and put another leg on the ground to balance your kinesis. This is in case the one you have relied on falls down; you would help yourself with that leg on the ground.
No matter how your uncle lives long, there is always that day he will join the ancestors and you will never like how you stagger with life alone without someone to lean on. You won’t cope with the challenges of survival. In a country like South Sudan where food is fetched from burning fires, uncles do not live long. They succumb to the injuries of fire and die young.
If one uncle has 10 wives; 5 living in the neighbourhood of South Sudan, 2 living in the state and 3 living in Juba, and has sponsored more than 30 students, where does he get money from? Definitely, he squanders people’s money to cater for all this and he gets this money from fire. It is not easy to eat someone’s money. So, the more corrupt your uncle is, the higher the chances of him falling victim of corruption. He gets relieved or dies in action and there you are living inside your uncle as a parasite.
When your uncle breathes, he supplies you with oxygen and rids you of carbon dioxide. But when he stops breathing, you suffocate to death. Tell me. Tell me a scenario where the host has died and its parasite remains alive. So, you and your uncle are foolish. Your uncle knows a parasite harms a host and you know when the host dies, the parasite dies too. So, both of you have a hand in your own death. Life is a journey of self-discovery, avoid parasitism and stand on your own feet.
