President Salva Kiir Mayardit bid farewell to four new ambassadors designate on Wednesday, urging them to foster robust diplomatic relations for the nation.
The diplomats, Anthony Kon, Morris Natali, Lily Adhieu, and Jacklin Natibe, are set to represent South Sudan in Kenya, China, Qatar, and Ghana, respectively.
The send-off, ceremony, at the State House in Juba, highlights South Sudan government’s commitment to strengthen its international partnerships.
According to Ambassador Anthony Kon, President Kiir emphasized the importance of “proactive diplomacy.”
“President Kiir instructed the ambassadors to work diligently in advocating for South Sudan’s interests worldwide,” Amb. Kon explained.
Amb. Akon added that the president expressed confidence in the ambassadors’ abilities to “enhance cooperation and partnerships in their respective host countries,” wishing them success in their new assignments.
The four diplomats are expected to play a critical role in promoting economic, political, and cultural cooperation between South Sudan and their host nations, further solidifying the nation’s global presence.
In a separate development, President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Wednesday received letters of credence from the newly appointed ambassadors of the United Kingdom and the Republic of India.
David Ashley, the UK’s envoy, and Anil Nautiyal, India’s ambassador, presented their credentials during a ceremony at the Presidential Palace.
