Kajo-keji bearing brut of de-afforestation

By James innocent

Communities of Kajo-keji county in Central Equatoria state complain of continues logging affecting climatic patterns, making crops to wilt from long drought.

Earlier on during the beginning of the year there has been a general heat wave in the region where many children were forced to stay home under shades. Many animals like pigs, sheep and goats died because of the heat wave.

Kenyi Joseph, a concerned citizen, reported that they have stayed for over one month without rain and drought has hit the agricultural sector in the area.

He blames the community, including foreign traders for continues logging that has robbed the area of trees that attracts rainfall.

Meanwhile, Ambrose Alumai, another resident calls on both the National and state Ministry of Forestry and Environment and local government leaders to barn unnecessary logging.

He further encourages the government and the community to plant more trees to prevent climate change.
