Woman assaulted, fuel station looted in Kajo-Keji

A wave of crime has hit Kajo-Keji County, with looting of a fuel station and a sexual assault of a woman by armed personnel.

Kajo-Keji county commissioner, Wani Jackson Mule revealed during a radio talk show that the woman was sexually assaulted by a military officer in Kangapo I Payam.

In a separate incident, Canal Petro station in Limi and Leikor Villages, also within Kangapo I Payam, was looted.

These recent incidents, underscore on-going security and governance challenges in Kajo-Keji county.

According to the report, the county authority apprehended a suspect in connection to the sexual assault, who is in custody pending further legal procedures.

The county authority closely monitors the case to ensure justice is served, while the victim is undergoing medical evaluation.

However, the commissioner is also concerned over increasing cases drug misuse in the county. He noted the rapid prevalence of illicit substances, advising the youth to remain vigilant and proactive in tackling the vice.

Wani highlighted hurdles in combating drug crimes, saying the county government is currently incapable of enforcing a temporary ban on illicit substances due to inactive Council.

County council serves as the legal arm of the administration, responsible for enacting by-laws on various crimes.

Commissioner Wanie was addressing, during a regular radio talk show which is part of the County Government’s efforts to keep citizens informed.

The radio program covers matters of security, public health, and development, aiming to foster greater awareness and community engagement in addressing the county’s challenges.
