“Yei Journalist are traumatized” says officials

Many journalists in South Sudan, are traumatized due to current economic and security situation which has hindered their reporting capabilities.

An official working for Fin Church Aid (FCA), Slash Moses voiced this observation, saying especially journalists in Yei River County are much affected.

Slash calls on journalists to be accurate while reporting sensitive issues in the community.

He also advised journalists to understand ethics of reporting because it guides them from giving wrong information to public.

In a related development, organization for Migration (IOM) is conducting a five-day training to 14 journalists, drawn from four counties of Yei, Morobo Lainya and Morobo in Central Equatoria state.

The training aims at equipping journalists with professional skills as trainers of trainees (TOT).

Isaac Metayo, a facilitator at the training cautioned journalists, saying it is dangerous job which needs Professionalism.

He noted that most journalist lacks professional skills that why the need more training.

Metayo further called for inclusions of female journalists, while asserting the current situation in the country is more discouraging.

Buga Alex, UJOSS coordinator for Central Equatoria state advised journalists be courageous.
