SSFF President, Sudanese Ambassador meet to strengthen ties

South Sudan Football Federation and Sudanese ambassador to Juba, Issam El-Din Karar discussed enhancing cooperation between the two countries in the field of football.

In a statement released by the federation, SSFF President, Gen. Augustino Maduot Parek, in meeting with the Sudanese Ambassador on Wednesday, underscored the growing sports diplomacy between Khartoum and Juba.

The statement emphasized South Sudan increasingly becoming a hub for regional football activity, including hosting the Sudanese national team in recent months, both sides discussed ways to strengthen bilateral sporting relations.

It stated that President Maduot highlighted the rising number of Sudanese players joining South Sudanese clubs, noting this as a sign of positive progress in football collaboration across the border.

“The relations between South Sudan and Sudan are currently in a positive phase, especially in terms of joint cooperation in football,” he said.

According to the statement, the meeting also addressed the status of Sudanese players in the South Sudanese league, acknowledging their growing presence and contribution to the domestic competition.

The statement further noted SSFF Secretary General, Mr. Victor Lawrence Lual, was also present during the discussions.

It underlined the meeting marked another step forward in the football relations between the neighbouring countries, amid broader efforts to use sport as a tool for unity and development.
