President Salva Kiir Mayardit has reaffirmed commitment to modernization of the country’s aviation infrastructure.
According to a statement issued by the presidential press unit yesterday, the remark followed a detailed report from the Director General of the South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority (SSCAA), John Woja Elinana, on the progress made in modernizing the Civil Aviation Authority.
The statement emphasized President Kiir reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to modernize the aviation infrastructure as a key pillar of national development.
It also underscored Kiir urged a sustained efforts toward operational efficiency, safety, and governance reforms within the sector to enable South Sudan to take its place in global aviation.
According to the statement, John Woja Elinana outlined a vision grounded in integrity, innovation, and operational excellence, aimed at sustainably developing South Sudan’s aviation industry and aligning it with international standards and the expectations of the global aviation community.
Woja highlighted significant strides made since his appointment, including upgrades to terminals, lighting systems, parking lots, construction of ring roads, renovation of terminals, extension of runways, improvements in airport security, access control measures, and other key facilities.
“We are working to comply with international organizations to meet global benchmarks critical for the development of the civil aviation industry in the country. We have developed a 12-month investment plan,” Woja added.
It stated Woja expressed optimism that these reforms would boost air connectivity, attract investment, stimulate economic growth, and foster regional and international integration.
This marked a pivotal moment in South Sudan’s ongoing journey toward aviation modernization and enhanced regional connectivity.
