Team Kakwa Power launches inclusive campaign to unite greater Yei

Team Kakwa Power (TKP) has officially entered the race for Kakwa community leadership by unveiling an inclusive campaign ahead of the August 2025 elections.

With the aim of uniting the Kakwa people across the Greater Yei counties, the event for the campaign launch last week brought together elders, youths and aspiring leaders who pledged to restore harmony, uphold cultural heritage, and promote inclusive development within the Kakwa community.

Team Kakwa Power’s campaign is anchored by the mission to; “Restore, Rebuild, Renew, and Preserve the Unity and Culture of the Kakwa People.”

Reflecting a greater balance in the region, TKP’s leadership is comprised of; Chairmanship aspirant Dada Isaac Lemi from Lainya County, Sebit Nicolas – Secretary General candidate from Yei and Joyce Yobu – Finance Secretary candidate from Morobo.

“Our strength lies in unity, and this campaign is about all of us; youth, women, elders, traditional and religious leaders,” said Lemi who added, “We are offering a leadership team that reflects the whole Kakwa family.”

TKP has six strategic pillars which it believes will for the foundation of its leadership: strengthening community institutions, promoting socio-cultural development, advancing economic growth, and empowering leaders, youth, and women.

During the launch of the campaign, the leadership emphasized their commitment to grassroot approach to accountability and peaceful democratic engagement. “We are not just seeking office; we are seeking the restoration of our shared identity and values,” Lemi said.

The TKP leadership urged the community to actively participate in the electoral process and use the campaign period as a time for learning, listening, and unity. The team pledged continued community engagement, promoting peaceful coexistence as a foundation for lasting unity and prosperity.
