CES Gov’t reaffirms commitment to restore, safeguard peace

The Central Equatoria State Acting Minister of Information and Communication, Jacob Aligo Lo-Lado has reaffirmed government commitment to restore and safeguard peace in all parts of the state.

This statement comes after the Council of Ministers extraordinary meeting on Tuesday that deliberated on peace and security initiatives.

In a statement issued by the state press unit, Aligo said that the cabinet noted with concern recent insecurity in Morobo and Yei River Counties, citing activities by armed holdout groups that are posing threat to safety of local communities.

He reaffirmed the State Government’s commitment to restore and safeguard peace in all parts of the State.

The statement further emphasized the Minister noted that the Minister of Peace Building presented two memoranda one on the commemoration of International Peace Day and another proposing a symposium as a build-up event to the celebrations.

‎‎“The Cabinet approved 19th September 2025 as the date for marking International Peace Day in Terekeka County,” Hon. Aligo said.

“On the symposium, the Cabinet endorsed the proposal with amendments to its budget and directed the Ministry of Peace Building to prepare a detailed budget for final approval.” The state Acting minister of information and communication said in the statement.

‎‎The United Nations observes the International Day of Peace annually to promote the ideals of peace, end conflict, and foster global cooperation.
