The urban water supply has resumed normally in Bor town following a week of water crisis after the cut of the water pipeline.

Last week, the excavator accidentally cut the water pipeline while opening the water channels in the residential blocks, leading to a water crisis in Bor town.

Speaking to No. 1 Citizen Daily Newspaper, John Jurkuc Yaak, the manager for the Urban Water Corporation in Bor, said the company’s engineers have successfully fixed the damaged water pipeline, and now the residents are accessing the clean drinking water normally.

“We have managed to repair the pipeline, and the water is flowing normally to the elevated tank in block 3. Thank God, the residents are now getting their clean drinking water normally as before.’’ Jurkuc said.

Jurkuc expressed that the water pressure line is measured to be 3.15 KM from the water pumping sites to the main elevated tank, which distributes clean drinking water to different resident blocks in Bor town.

“This line is the one that pressures the water to the main tank; without it, the water can’t be supplied. It’s been repaired now, and it works well. Those who cut it have been held to bear the responsibility.’’ he said.

Meanwhile, Ajok Jool, a mother of three kids in residential block 2 in Bor, said many residents in Bor have been struggling to get clean drinking water since the pipeline broke down.

“It was really difficult; like in block 2 here, we don’t have a single borehole in our block. When the pipe got cut, we used to go and fetch the water at the Catholic Compound,” Ajok said.

However, following the resumption of the water supply this week, it has reduced the congestion and hours women could spend while fetching water at the few boreholes in the last week.

“It’s very good; everyone now fetches water on time following the repair of the borehole. Now people begin to fetch water from 8 am to 2 pm; it’s very good. We thank the Bor urban water corporation for rescuing us.’’ She said.

The week of water crisis in Bor town nearly forced many residents to drink from unsafe water sources and had triggered fear over health risks.
