The CTSAMVM has honored Central Equatoria State Governor, Rabi Mujung Emmanuel, for his role in South Sudan’s peace process under the 2018 Revitalized Peace Agreement.
The Ceasefire and Transitional Security Arrangements Monitoring and Verification Mechanism (CTSAMVM) is a peace monitoring body in South Sudan.
According to the statement obtained from governor’s press unit, the honoring took place at the state secretariate.
Governor Rabi Mujung was presented with two certificates in recognition of his contributions and sustained commitment to ceasefire monitoring and transitional security arrangements by the outgoing CTSAMVM Chairperson, Maj. Gen. Yitayal Gelaw Bitew who led the delegation and Maj. Gen. Teshome Anagawe Ayana, the incoming Chairperson.
He also received the Certificate of Achievement, also referred to as the CTSAMVM Medal for Distinguished Service, for his role in monitoring and verifying ceasefire and transitional security arrangements between 18 September 2018 and 30 June 2025.
Additionally, he was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation for his service as Senior Party Representative of the Revitalized Transitional Government of National Unity (RTGoNU) and as a member of CTSAMVM’s Technical Committee during the same period.
The recognition reflects the governor’s unwavering dedication to the peace process and his active role in ensuring that the ceasefire holds across Central Equatoria State and the country at large.
CTSAMVM, a key oversight body in South Sudan’s peace structure and processes, has been instrumental in monitoring compliance with the ceasefire and transitional security arrangements outlined in the 2018 agreement.
It reports to the IGAD Council of Ministers and the Reconstituted Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission (RJMEC) which has the responsibility of overseeing the implementation of the peace agreement as a whole and is the parent body.
The recognition of the governor underscores the importance of local leadership in sustaining national peace efforts.
