Former Undersecretary appointed as Director General

In a move seen as demotion, Hon Dr. Harriet Akello Pasquale Leone, the former Undersecretary National Ministry of Health has been appointed as Director General in the same ministry.

Harriet is the new Director General for International Health & Coordination in the Ministry of Health as appointed by Sarah Cleto Rial the National Minister of Health.

Before Akello was appointed, Minister Sarah Cleto dismissed Dr. Malek Deng from his position as a Director General in Directorate of International Health & Coordination.

Akello was dismissed from the office in March this year by the Presidential decree read on the state-owned South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC).

In June this year, she was appointed as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Gudele Hospital, a modern private hospital.

The Department of Safety & Security at Gudele Hospital applauded for her appointment as the emphasizing support and solidarity on her new journey.

“We would like to congratulate Dr Harriet Akello Pasquale, the Chief Executive Officer-CEO of Gudele Hospital for her appointment as the National Director of International Health”

“We would also like to thank the National minister of Health Dr Sarah Cleto Hassan Rial and the entire National ministry of Health leadership for their trust and the decision to nominate her” statement read.
