The Ministry of Information, Culture, Youth, and Sport organized a major cleanup drive at Amanthbeck Hospital on Saturday August 23rd, 2025.

The initiative led by the Minister of Information, Culture, Youth, and Sport Minister, Yohana Akol Ngor, in partnership with youth associations from Alal, Amethagouk, Mijak, and Rumamer counties aimed at improving hygiene and promoting community health in the Abyei Special Administrative Area.

“We aim to inspire youth to actively participate in essential efforts because they are the backbone of the community,” stressed Ngor in a statement while praising the youth’s commitment and emphasized the ministry’s readiness to collaborate on future initiatives that address the needs of Abyei residents.

The newly elected youth association chairpersons echoed the minister’s sentiments, expressing their willingness to work closely with the government on programs that directly benefit the community. They stressed the importance of sanitation in curbing insect-borne diseases such as malaria, and called for sustained efforts to improve public health infrastructure.

Ngor urged young people to confront urban challenges and take responsibility for their communities. “We cannot rely only on organizations for progress. The youth themselves must play an active role in shaping Abyei’s future,” Ngor stressed.

The minister acknowledged the support of Justice Charles Abyei Jok, Chief Administrator of Abyei, and Dr. Ayom Korchek Ayom, Minister of Health, for their dedication to community health and sustainability.

The campaign sets a precedent for future collaborations between government institutions and youth groups, reinforcing the importance of grassroots engagement in public service delivery and health promotion in Abyei.
