Assigning the first daughter to the president’s special programmes docket needs to reflect services delivery.

This time, the government and the office of the president in particular must outline and ensure that the envoy for the special programmes made a visible impact on the citizens.

Although the position was first held by the current vice president for economic cluster, most citizens were still to understand what special programmes mean in such a docket.

While in other countries, particularly the neighbouring East African countries, the Special Programmes in the office of the President includes investment programs in key sectors such as health, education, infrastructure, rural development among others

With South Sudan struggling with poor service delivery and delays in salaries, the newly appointed presidential envoy on special programme will have a lot to do to reflect the docket.

The docket will be able to ensure that the bureaucracy that always delays the implementation of the crucial services that can help the citizens comes to an end.

The citizens are yet waiting to benefit more from special programme that are directly monitored by the senior presidential envoy, which is now occupied by the daughter of the president.

South Sudan does not need more promises; it needs action that expedites the implementation of the crucial services that save lives, such as well-equipped hospitals, clean water, schools, and good roads, among others.
