One of the most dangerous habits in our society today is the way we praise people who never bring any real change to our lives. We give them high respect, we call their names in honor, and sometimes we even treat them like heroes. But when we stop to look carefully, we realize that they have not changed anything in our communities, our families, or even our nation. This is very dangerous because it blinds us from the truth and keeps us living in the same suffering year after year.
When you praise someone who does nothing for the poor, you lose your own vision. Instead of thinking about progress, you waste your energy on words and actions that only make the other person look great. You end up living as a parasite, depending on them, even though they do not lift you up. You sleep in poor houses where water leaks like a river, where mosquitoes make the place their forest, and where rats take over as the real owners. You go to bed hungry, you suffer from poverty, and yet you still give your claps and your respect to people who do not care about you.
Sometimes, people even give their time and energy to volunteer for leaders, rich people, or other individuals who never show any appreciation. You serve them, you run their errands, and you follow their instructions, but in the end, there is not even a single thank you. This is painful, yet many people continue to do it. They continue praising those who have not improved their lives in any way. The question is: why do we continue to give so much honor to people who do nothing for us?
We are living in the wrong zone when we spend our time praising people simply because they have money, wealth, or power. Money alone should not be the reason for respect. Riches without mercy and kindness are empty. Some people are rich but their wealth does not help the nation, the community, or the poor. They keep their wealth for themselves, or they use it to gain more power and control over others. Praising such people is not only a waste of time but also a danger to society, because it teaches the younger generation to value money over good character.
Instead of praising those who sit on their wealth, we should honor the ones who do good for the poor and weak. True respect should be given to those who feed the hungry, give clothes to the naked, build shelter for the homeless, and lift up those who have fallen. We must celebrate the ones who show mercy, the ones who care when something goes wrong in another person’s life, and the ones who feel pain when the community is suffering. These are the people who deserve our songs of praise.
It is also important to honor those who work for the progress of the nation. Many countries remain poor not because of lack of resources, but because of poor leadership and blind praise. When leaders fail and the people still clap for them, it encourages laziness and corruption. But when the people stand firm and refuse to give praise until there is real change, leaders are pushed to work harder. This is how progress begins. Our voices should be used to encourage the good, not to strengthen the wrong.
God Himself is pleased with those who have merciful hearts. He does not count the size of your money, but the size of your kindness. The Bible tells us that true religion is to care for widows and orphans, to love justice, and to walk humbly with God. When we praise people who live this way, we are honoring what God Himself loves. On the other hand, when we praise people who do nothing but chase their own wealth and power, we are going against the will of God.
So, my brothers and sisters, it is time to open our eyes. We must stop wasting our energy on those who do not bring any change to our lives. Our claps, our songs, and our respect should be reserved for the people who lift us up, who serve the poor, who bring peace and unity, and who build a brighter future for our children. That is how our society, our families, and our nation will grow strong.
Let us leave behind the empty culture of praising wealth and power. Let us start a new culture of praising mercy, kindness, progress, and truth. When we do this, God Himself will help us and bless us with leaders and neighbors who care for others. And together, we will rise from poverty, from hunger, and from suffering, into a life of hope and strength.
