A 28-year-old man is accused of stabbing a woman to death in Aweil East County of Northern Bahr el Ghazal State.

The incident is reported to have occurred on Saturday at Malith-Alek-Yai market in Madhol payam.

Dominic Deng Maror, the Boma Administrator of the Agur-piiny section in Madhol payam, confirmed the incident.

Deng said, according to preliminary reports, the woman was intentionally stabbed to death.

“People say that she was stabbed, and when rushed to the hospital, she died on the way,” said Deng.

“The forces were sent in from Wanyjok, and he was arrested and now is in police custody as investigations continue, and it remains in the hands of the judge to pass the verdict,” he noted.

Maror urged his relatives to remain calm as interrogations are being carried out.

This follows an incident of a woman in Madhol payam last week at Rum-rol when a woman was also killed.

Authorities caution people to seek the rule of law rather than taking laws into their own hands to address the grievances.

Local residents have mixed reactions over the matter that sent shockwaves through the county, as others do blame those who were nearby who didn’t separate them when they had a squabble under their watch.
