Police in Twic County in Warrap State have detained a woman for pouring hot water on her co-wife’s son, resulting in burns.

Speaking to the media, Lieutenant Atem Deng Atem in Wun-rok in Twic County confirmed the detention, citing that investigations are underway.

He expressed that the incident occurred when the suspect poured hot water onto the co-wife’s son, whom she quarreled with.

According to the local police in Wun-rok payam of Twic, the incident occurred over the weekend night in Pan-ruel boma.

This incident is said to have occurred at the cattle camp in the county.

Deng said that the suspect was identified and arrested and will be taken to court.

The police officer said that it was a small quarrel among co-wives that was later transferred to the innocent child.

“After the quarrel, she boiled water and allowed the boy to sleep and poured it on him while he was sleeping,” the police said, as reported.

He added that the hot water burned the boy, who now sustained severe injuries or burns all over his body, especially on his chest and stomach.

“What happened is that the woman had a quarrel with her co-wife’s son, and he allowed him to sleep and poured water on him. The boy is about 17 years old, and he was sleeping where he keeps cattle in the cattle camp, and she poured water on him,” said Deng.

He said the victim is being admitted to the Mayen-Abun health facility, with the suspect being interrogated in Wun-rok payam inpolice custody.

The police commissioner concluded that after investigation the suspect will be arraigned in court.

The officer urged people to exercise restraint when the situation escalates between two parties or people and seek solutions in the court or through chiefs.
