In a major diplomatic breakthrough, Louis Lobong Lojore, the Governor of Eastern Equatoria State, has secured scholarship for 16 students to pursue law studies in the United Arab Emirates.
In a statement issued by the Governor’s press unit, the agreement was reached following a high-profile diplomatic engagement with Her Highness Sheikha Hend Faisal Al Qassemi at a dinner hosted by the Sheikha at her Royal Palace on Tuesday.
“Sheikha Hend graciously agreed to sponsor 16 students from Eastern Equatoria State to pursue law studies in the UAE. This marks a significant step in expanding educational opportunities for youth in the region,” Governor Lobong’s office said in a statement.
The statement emphasized that the meeting was part of a broader diplomatic mission by the Governor, aimed at strengthening international partnerships and unlocking developmental opportunities for Eastern Equatoria State.
The Governor’s office stated that Sheikha commended the Lobong’s commitment to building international cooperation and expressed her gratefulness to the Governor for honouring her invitation.
“His dedication to strengthening international relations is commendable, and I look forward to fostering ties that will bring sustainable development and shared prosperity,” she said.
Governor Lobong expressed appreciation for the hospitality and support extended to him and his delegation, acknowledging the importance of the engagement in fostering international cooperation, according to the Governor’s press unit.
“This engagement is a stepping stone toward greater cooperation and mutual benefit,” reads part of the statement.
He also seized the opportunity to spotlight Eastern Equatoria as a peaceful, welcoming region ripe for investment, emphasizing its strategic priorities.
The diplomatic engagement focused on strengthening healthcare systems, expanding access to quality education, improving road infrastructure as well as advancing energy development, and creating jobs through forward-looking partnerships.
The scholarship offer comes as part of a wider series of diplomatic and developmental meetings Governor Lobong is undertaking in the UAE, aimed at strengthening ties and unlocking new opportunities for his state.
