In a statement released by the presidential press unit yesterday, VP Bol was promoted with other generals to the highest military ranks.

Those promoted include senior officers in the South Sudan People’s Defence Forces (SSPDF) and the National Security Service (NSS).

“Among those elevated was Vice President Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel, who was promoted from lieutenant general to full general in the NSS,” the statement partly read.

The statement underscored that the Minister of National Security, Mamur Obote Mete, also rose from Lieutenant General to General.

Also, the Presidential Advisor on National Security Affairs, Madut Dut Yel, received the same promotion.

Among those who graced the occasion was Minister of Defence and Veterans Affairs, General Chol Thon Balok, among other top military leaders.
