Health officials in Twic County of Warrap State have announced that cases of people suffering from tuberculosis infection are on the increase.
Director for the TB department in St. Mother Teresa, Mr. Peter Manyin Manyin, warned that without abiding by the rules of protection, the disease can be deadly.
“The cases of TB are on the increase. This month we have recorded 98 cases of people suffering. The problem is because some stereotypes are attached to the increase or the surge of the infection,” he said.
“Some people say some ethnic groups or clans are known for the disease, leaving the patients to refuse to inhale the drugs,” Manyin added.
Additionally, he stated that the infection is spreadable, as it passes when one coughs near you.
“Kindly, it is good to take the drugs and swallow them and administer the routine as per the advice from the doctors,” he stated.
Manyin further emphasized that more than 28 TB patients had been recorded this month, which makes the case more alarming.
He urged the local residents to visit the health facilities, which were furnished with equipment, and test for the ailment.
“There is a hospital here, and you need to come for tests once you experience coughing and get to know your status,” he implores.
The medic underscored the disease is treatable, and once the patients abide by the instructions of the health experts, it can easily be treated.
Tuberculosis is an infectious disease of humans and animals caused by a species of mycobacterium, usually Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
It mainly affects the lungs, where it causes tubercles caused by the expectoration of mucus and sputum, fever, weight loss, and chest pain, and is transmitted through inhalation or ingestion of bacteria.
