Why I write about the human condition part {2}

For a long time now, Morgan Freeman has amazed me in his story of God. He begins this journey to discover the power of miracles and it has taken him to many places, India, Egypt, Ethiopia, Mexico, Rome and many places, talked with Buddhist monks, pastors and scientists to understand how a single second can change our lives forever, for worse or for better. And sometimes, how missing a bus could save one’s life if the bus was later involved in a fatal accident.

Next was his visit to a Buddhist shrine in Hong Kong where students prayed for good success. Some prayed for the grades and still failed in their exams.

The truth is, life is a selfish thing and for your information, you are not going to be lucky. Luck starts from the day you are born and one of the examples of luck is ASK, the able daughter of our president. If she was born to an ordinary family like any South Sudanese, she was going to be facing some of the biggest challenges right now and because she is naturally a beautiful woman, she was going to be married by a random cattle keeper who would make her life a living hell.

But now, she is the president’s beloved daughter and sits atop the country’s big institutions with unlimited access to the country’s juiciest petals. And even if she doesn’t work hard, she is still not going to be worried about anything because she has almost 100 percent of her boxes checked just by virtue of being the president’s flower daughter, with a future secured not by hard work but by the accident of her birth.

Apparently, there are thousands of young South Sudanese who are doing everything decently well, to improve their living conditions but they are unfortunately falling behind because the system was made to work for the country’s few individuals, who amass the country vast wealth and use it to infringe on the rights of the struggling poor.

And now, thousands of these young men are left with no choice but to force migrate, taking life’s greatest and most dangerous risks of leaving the country with hopes of a better opportunity abroad.  I don’t encourage young people to embark on this deadly adventure because the grass is not always greener on the other side but on the other hand, this is what happens when the country doesn’t allow its younger population to try their best.

In the next ten years, if the country’s wealthiest individuals continue to steal from the country’s poorest, the energetic young people will be forced to leave and they will never return. Time will tell.   Peace to all those who are doing everything humanly possible to survive, to hope, even when it is very hard.

The question is, does the hand of God really intervene in matters of life and luck and the ups and downs of life? Or does it all happen by chance? What or who governs the seemingly random event of our lives?

For this, Freeman even talks about the seeming miracle of him ending up as an actor in Hollywood. Did he make it happen? Was he lucky or was someone up there watching over him?

The truth is, our lives are filled with unexpected twists and turns. Some believe it is randomness or that we are propelled along. What is the human person capable of when it comes to changing the world? Whatever your answers may be, you have to take it or leave it. We cannot control almost 90 percent of our lives. You can be nowhere today and tomorrow, you are somebody nobody thought you would be. You can be alive today and tomorrow, you are no more.  Take time and find the truth, it is not hard to find the truth.

The only thing you should remember is that most of the things we want out of life don’t always work out and it is okay to take a leap of faith, no matter how hard it may seem.

But here is the point, if you are not as lucky as the president’s daughter, you have a very long and tiresome journey ahead and through this voyage, you will cry, hate and love about   yourself, your family and life itself. But this is just a quick reminder; this is only going to get better and if it doesn’t, you must get to the end knowing that you have tried your best.
