Local authorities in Yei River County, Central Equatoria State have said cooperation and understanding between security forces and civilians has improved, leading to better handling of criminals and community issues.
speaking to the media yesterday, the county Paramount Chief, Joseph Brown Lo Mosee emphasized that the coordination between the army and civilians has become stronger, particularly in addressing cases affecting local communities.
“There is now a better understanding between the armed forces and the civilian population when handling sensitive issues,” Chief Lo Mosee said.
He also urged joint security units in Yei to continue working closely with local chiefs, police, and community members.
In recent years, several civil-military dialogues had been conducted in Yei River County with advocacy for peace among civilians and the army in Lasu payam.
Situation in Yei has been marked by escalating violence between military forces and civilians. The deteriorating relation between the two groups has led to challenges in maintaining peace and security.
In July this year a high-level security meeting was held at the Mugwo Payam headquarters aimed at strengthening coordination between government forces and local communities in addressing ongoing security and development concerns.
Early in July this year, the residents in Yei were urged by authorities and development partners to renew and strengthen their commitment to peace, reconciliation and security in the region.
