The public and Media Family mourn the loss of Veteran Journalist Michael Koma, who passed on over the weekend.
According to family desk, veteran journalist Koma died at the age of 50 after a short illness.
Before death robbed the Fraternity, Koma was a well-known Editor who has worked with many media houses. He also served in Union of Journalists of South Sudan as Secretary General.
According to the decease sister, the illness started on Saturday morning at his home in Hai-Cassava then later rushed to Mouna Medical Center where he passed on.
“After the general checkup, it was found that he has high malaria fever diabetes and ulcer” she said.
“We were just arguing, but it reaches around 10PM he started changing, the body was hot and the way of speaking changed too” she added.
She underscored while the situation was worsening, the doctor sent her to buy Panadol injection from a nearby clinic but unfortunately on her return, the decease was not able to talk.
Meanwhile, Chuol Jany, Chief Editor of the Catholic Radio Network (CRN) and National Editor Forum’s Chairperson in his condolence message acknowledged him stating he was not only a respected professional but also a pillar in the media industry whose contributions will not be forgotten.
“On behalf of the National Editors’ Forum, and on my own behalf, I extend heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues. The media fraternity in South Sudan stands in solidarity with you during this difficult time” he stated in a statement.
His statement emphasized that they had the privilege of meeting Koma during the recent NEF General Assembly, unaware that they were sharing the final moments with a man who dedicated decades of his life to the service of journalism.
Also, Union of Journalist of South Sudan grieved the death citing that Late Koma contributed a lot to the media development in South Sudan.
