Kiir commends Eastern Equatoria for peace efforts

President Salva Kiir Mayardit has yesterday commended the citizens in Eastern Equatoria state for their commitment to peace hard work and resilience.

In a statement issued by the presidential press unit, Kiir’s commendations came during a briefing by Governor Luis Lobong Lojore on the security situation in Eastern Equatoria state.

“President Kiir commended the people of Eastern Equatoria for their commitment to peace, hard work and resilience” the statement partly read.

The statement underscored Governor Lobong has called on the national government to assist in facilitating the safe and orderly return of the returnees to their respective home areas.

‎” Governor Lobong, in his report to the meeting, reported that the state is peaceful after last month’s outbreak of violence in the Kapoeta town where the criminals had fired at a government office” the statement read.

It further emphasized that the Governor reassured the President that the situation has normalized since then.

‎It also stated that the people of Eastern Equatoria all condemned the attacks and had vowed to stop such acts of lawlessness from occurring again.

“The people are coming together now to maintain peace and assist with stability in the region” the statement partly read.

‎Furthermore, the statement underlined that Governor Lobong also reported to the President about the daily influx of South Sudanese returnees who are returning from Kakuma refugee camp in neighboring Kenya.
